Introducing Nicole Jacobs, LMSW

Advocate for Mental Health Support and Trauma Recovery 

Nicole is a Licensed Master's Degree social worker (LMSW) committed to positively impacting the lives of individuals and families. Nicole is passionate about empowering individuals to heal and reach their full potential after enduring traumatic events or experiencing mental health struggles. Nicole’s parents, brother, and fiancé are lawyers, and Nicole is attuned to the strict demands of the legal profession that can result in burnout, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and addiction. Nicole is also familiar with practice areas where secondary trauma is likely to occur and is devoted to helping professionals navigate through the complexities of secondary trauma and compassion fatigue. 

Nicole holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and History from The University of Texas at Austin. After college, Nicole worked as a Consultant for Oracle Corporation, assisting C-Level executives in reaching their business goals. After several years, Nicole made a career change and pursued an interest in supporting children and families involved in the Child Welfare System. Nicole served as a Child Advocacy Specialist with CASA of Travis County in Austin, TX, where she provided comprehensive case management and volunteer supervision. She worked alongside multidisciplinary teams consisting of legal professionals, therapists, and educators, ensuring collaboration across various domains to support the well-being of abused and neglected children. 

Nicole received her Master of Social Work degree from the University of Houston's Graduate College of Social Work. Nicole excelled academically and earned the distinction of Trauma Education Program Fellow. Nicole holds various certifications, one of which is a certification in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). Nicole's commitment to continuous learning and specialization in trauma equip her with the necessary skills to address the complex needs of her clients.

Nicole works full-time as a Medical Social Worker at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, TX. Nicole strives to contribute to the overall health and well-being of children who are undergoing treatment for cancer and their families. Nicole utilizes a combination of a strengths-based solution-focused approach and motivational interviewing when working with families in order to maximize on their resources and support and achieve their goals. Nicole's areas of expertise include case management, biopsychosocial assessments, documentation, advocacy, crisis intervention, emotional and grief support, and referrals to community resources. Nicole facilitates weekly support groups for parents and caregivers at Texas Children’s hospital as well as volunteers as a support group facilitator at Bo’s Place, leading grief support groups for individuals experiencing grief and bereavement. Nicole is equipped to work with clients individually, as a couple, or in group settings. 

In addition to her role as a Medical Social Worker, Nicole holds the esteemed position of Chief Innovation Officer at Rhode Mental Health and Wellness. As the Chief Innovation Officer, she utilizes her expertise and creativity to develop training materials and spearheads the trauma training for lawyers program. Nicole's dedication to providing education and support extends beyond her role as a therapist, as she plays a vital role in training legal professionals to address trauma in their practice. Alongside her work as a trainer, Nicole also offers psychotherapy services, leveraging her expertise in trauma, addiction, and mental health support to provide compassionate and evidence-based therapy to her clients. Nicole is a compassionate advocate dedicated to positively impacting the lives of individuals and their families. Her commitment to ongoing growth and her ability to collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams contribute to her exceptional ability to provide comprehensive support and empower those she serves.

Monica is the Founder and Designer at Hold Space Creative. She's a former Art Therapist and coach, and she's passionate about making mental healthcare more accessible by helping therapists & coaches present themselves in a more accessible way. She's based in Michigan, and when she's not designing websites, she can usually be found somewhere in nature.
