Introducing Huy Vo,Advocate for Mental Health and Emotional Well-being

Huy Vo is a dedicated therapist and trainer at Rhode Mental Health and Wellness, committed to positively impacting individuals' lives. As an Asian American, Huy experienced the unspoken rule and stigma surrounding mental health and emotional well-being, particularly among males. This personal journey inspired him to enter the field and bring about awareness and change for those who may feel voiceless.

Being bilingual, Huy is fluent in Vietnamese and English, allowing him to communicate effectively and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds. He profoundly understands the cultural nuances that can influence mental health experiences and treatment.

Huy brings a wealth of skills and experience to his role, including expertise in case management, counseling, therapy, advocacy and outreach, psychosocial assessments, interdisciplinary collaboration, crisis intervention, and motivational interviewing. He is also proficient in Epic Medical Systems, ensuring efficient and accurate record-keeping.

As a Medical Social Worker at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Huy facilitated support and resource allocation for vulnerable and underfunded populations. He developed and implemented individualized care plans, coordinated services with interdisciplinary teams, and monitored patients' progress throughout their treatment journey. Huy also collaborated extensively with an interdisciplinary team, optimizing patient care and outcomes. Additionally, he worked closely with a clinical social worker, providing therapy for pediatric patients.

Before that, Huy served as an Outreach Coordinator for Voting Advocacy at OCA Greater Houston. Through grassroots efforts, he engaged with and supported the communities of Bellaire, Sharpstown, and Alief. Huy connected residents to resources and promoted the importance of voter engagement and participation.

Huy obtained his Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Houston, with a minor in Human Development and Family Studies. He further pursued his education at the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston. Huy is a licensed Master Social Worker.

Committed to personal and professional growth, Huy has acquired various certifications, including Situational Awareness Workshop Presenter, Bystander Intervention Workshop Presenter, and Citizenship Application Preparer. He is affiliated with esteemed organizations such as the Global Leaders of Behavioral Health Education Fellowship (GLOBE) and the American Medical Student Association (AMSA).

Driven by a deep sense of empathy and compassion, Huy genuinely desires to help individuals overcome challenges and improve their overall well-being. He strives to create a safe and supportive environment for clients, providing them with the tools and strategies they need to achieve lasting positive change. With his expertise and multicultural background, Huy is dedicated to fostering healing, growth, and empowerment in every client he serves.
